2010 is winding down slowly but surely and since every possible media outlet in the world is having some sort of list/countdown for the year, I have joined the bandwagon. Here are the top 10 posts for 2010 in terms of views by all you wonderful readers out there.
- Freebie Cheating With Celebrities: Alpa Chino's views on why cheating with a "celebrity" (as long as you aren't married) is not cheating at all. After all celebrities aren't people, they're celebrities. Of course the real reason for this post's popularity is the fact that it includes a picture of Kim Kardashian. Sad, but true. This post had more than 3 times the page views of second place.
- RCCG Pastor Adeboye-Scam Artist Extraordinaire: many of you read this post, I assume to find out why I called Pastor Adeboye a scam artist. Even better, some enterprising Redeemed follower actually dared to comment to defend his "G.O.".
- Movie Trailers: this post was about my love for certain movie trailers based on the music selections in the trailers. At the time there were 2 movies (The Social Network and TRON:Legacy) that I planned to see in theaters solely because of the awesome trailers. I did end up watching both movies and was not disappointed. In fact, I will be downloading the TRON: Legacy soundtrack ASAP.
- Nigerian Reunion Weekend (A Loong Post): here the title is pretty self explanatory. Alpa Chino and I went for the reunion (my 2nd one, his first) and it probably won't be a repeat experience for either of us. Word is the next one is in
MiamiOrlando so who knows, maybe my friends and I will take advantage of the reunion discounted hotel rates and then do other stuff for the rest of the weekend.
- See This Idiot?: Jack Burman, Fox News/Business sensationalist (that is not his actual title) decided to drag Nigerians into what he thought was pretty witty reparte about US postal workers. Turns out a fellow Fox News-er (Al D'Amato) did not appreciate the blatant racism and stupidity of Mr. Burman. Sidenote: due to recent events I have developed a healthy respect for FedEx and UPS. I don't think US Postal Services needs to close down, but it definitely needs to find a better way to do things.
- Open Letter Alpa Chino: in a relatively rare moment of "girlfriend cuteness" I crafted this letter to everyone's favorite anonymous-boyfriend-that-refuses-to-comment-on-his-girlfriend's-blog-but-secretly-enjoys-reading-my-awesome-posts aka Alpa Chino. The point of the letter was to convince him that he should move to NY instead of trying to get me to move to where he is. I shall be announcing the location of the move soon, all you need to know is that right now the odds are not in favor of New York or Chicago. Le sigh.
- Being You Before "You" Becomes "We": my views on marriage and the whole idea that women (especially Nigerian women) don't always get to be themselves and figure out their lives before settling down with a husband and kids.
- Ahh Parents: put quite simply, this is me sharing how irritating it is that my parents are always so...actually I don't quite feel this way anymore because I can see an end in sight (i.e. me moving out). Plus, my parents have actually calmed down since I wrote this post. But feel free to read it nonetheless.
- Manliness: why gender stereotyping goes both ways and how I actually buy into it sometimes. Although, I've been catching myself doing it more often and taking steps to correct this.
- Thank You All: on winning 2 Category A awards at the 2010 Nigerian Blog Awards. I still can't believe you guys actually voted. After some hard campaigning and shameless requests for votes, you guys helped me win! Thanks again.
My next post will be about the posts with the most comments from the past year! Some of you may already know which posts these are, in fact you probably commented on them as well! I know I write great blog posts (...ahem...pats self on back) but the commentary can be just as interesting and worth the read especially in the posts that make the next list. Stay tuned.
Hope y'all are enjoying the holiday season!
