Summer Plans

Mine are nothing spectacular. Right now most of my time is spent at home. When I'm not banging my head against the wall that is my accounting class, I'm banging my head against the wall that is the job market. In between all that, I find time to watch as many TV shows and movies as humanly possible without neglecting the two previously mentioned responsibilities.

I've been asked multiple times how my job search is going. The answer is, its going. Interviews have come, gone, and are coming. I'm still not worried about my "situation" yet.

School wise, I'm starting the second half of Accounting this week. So, look out for more of my frustrated tweets. You should follow me if you aren't already.

The only news I have is that I will be hosting "EDJ's BFF auditions" soon. This is because, unfortunately for me but fortunately for her, Mogaji will be moving at the end of summer. Moving as in to another country by the way. I now have no idea who I will call to complain about Alpa Chino because the time difference will make that hard to do.

The Grass Is Always Greener... (includes video)

I'm not sure how familiar the people in this video are with Nigeria but hey, cute effort.

Are they being sarcastic though? I still can't figure it out. If they are being "sincere" that they think Nigeria is better than (at least) Russia, then this is clear evidence that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Especially considering that many Nigerians would rather be anywhere but Nigeria, as shown by the number of  expatriate Nigerians.

I'm always wary of people who love Nigeria and yet have never been to the place.

RE: NotJustOk!

I don't usually write entire posts in response to other people's blog posts. But I decided to make an exception this time just because I read something that gave me a real life headache.

Over at GISTDOTCOM (CAPS only by the way) dear Sisi Yemmie expressed her disgust (?) at hearing that a "former friend" of hers was gay. It would seem she is no longer friends with this person because he is gay.

For disclaimer purposes, I am friends with the person in question and have been for a while. I never knew him while he was "in the closet" so to speak, so maybe I don't understand what Sisi Yemmie is going through having discovered he is gay.

I am really not here to attack her belief that homosexuality is "not just ok". Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, truly, as long as their belief doesn't manifest itself in some outward sign of...outrageous and negative behavior.

Make Up...Which Side Are You On?

Recently, on a fellow blogger's site, I discovered an eyebrow makeup tutorial. What struck me was not the perfectly drawn eyebrows, but the time it took to complete just one eyebrow. The blogger mentioned that she goes through this process everyday, sometimes repeatedly if she doesn't get it "right" the first time, and I thought to myself--who really has time for all that on a daily basis?

The girl with the perfectly drawn eyebrows, goes by the name Jennie Jenkins (not her real name). She is a truly stunning (in my opinion) Nigerian girl in the UK who does makeup tutorials, always has great hair, and has a cute sense of fashion. If you haven't heard of her, you should visit her site (after you read this post). She isn't paying me to say any of this, FYI. I genuinely think you should check her out--especially if you are one of those Nigerian females that doesn't really understand makeup and had to master Photoshop just for the sake of touching up your Facebook pictures.
