Where Am I From? It Depends...

In my weeks of absence from blogging, a few things have happened. Of course there is the new job, but that is just one thing.

I have discovered that I (legally at least) could claim South African citizenship if I really wanted.

This revelation, startling as it was, occurred over chin-chin making one fine day with my mother. It's amazing what can happen when the whole "mother-daughter" bonding thing happens.

My Leap In The Dark

I know I have been MIA but I have good reasons! For the last 3 weeks, well 4 weeks really, I have been busy. Unemployment may seem like a "break" but not when you are me. Between scouring the web for job postings, then filling out applications, then having phone screenings, then 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd round face to face interviews, OF COURSE classwork, and other miscellaneous things, I haven't really had time to blog or even keep up with Twitter.

But I am back for good. I promise!

On to the good news. As some (many?) of you may know I left my old job a couple of months ago. I just did not want to do the work any more and I felt my role was going nowhere. Well, good news! I got a new job! Starting next week I will take my place next to the suburban dwelling city slickers and commute to the city.

It only took about 2 months.

Is It Ever Okay For A Man To Hit A Woman?

So, I came across this video that was recently shared on the internets this week and it is SHOCKING.

I say shocking because to be honest I am not sure what to think.

Sidenote: this video "premiered" on World Star Hip Hop and, as many of you may already know, that website is just...well..if you're not familiar with it please check it out. Some people think TMZ is bad but they've clearly never seen WSHH. Their slogan should be "making black people look bad is our schtick".

In my defense I saw this video when someone shared it on Facebook.

As a man is there ever a time when you should be "excused" for hitting a woman? I say NO, but when a woman comes at a man like this it is so hard to defend her.
